New at The Archive
22.08.08 at 02:39:12

The Archive is up and running and waiting for submissions. As you can see, I'm experimenting with my own stuff first to make sure everything is working at each stage of development.

I had experimented a little with the 'official' efiction archiving system (the one metropolisfic.com was using) but I found it more than a little unwieldy for the needs of a single fandom. (By the time I said f** it, I had already disabled more than half the functions as unnecessary - and the registration system only worked half the time even before I started turning things off.)

So, next on the agenda (aside from some submissions): getting an age discriminator going for the MA rating, setting up series, and setting up to email authors when a review comes in.  Cool

The archive now has a M/MA section with warnings.

Next up, a series listing - yeah, some of us do series.  Grin

The Archive now is fully functional - reviews, series list, age checker for M and MA works.

Now all we need is more authors to submit their finished work. You know who you are.

Just a reminder - we do accept work that is more explicit than accepted on fanfiction.net but we also reserve the right to reject any work that slides into porn rather than erotica. (And yes, there is s difference.) Shocked

So - send me those stories! Smiley

Just a quick (mabye stupid question) does the copyright date (in the rules section) refer to the day you finished or the day you first posted it on the 'net?

I usually list the copyright as the day I started it - since I frequently have  the story pretty well mapped out. Otherwise, use the date you finished it. (We want to post the copyright date in the event there is an issue of which story came first for 'other' issues. Say you finished a story but didn't post it and someone else, quite innocently, used many of the same ideas and posted before you did even though they finished it later.)

The rest of the Movieverse site now has a search function. This will become more important as the site grows.  Smiley

Labrat over at the L&C Archive graciously gave permission to use their grammar FAQ, General FAQ and other material and modify them for the Archive. Many thanks.  Kiss

These can be found at Archive

Also, the DHTML menu on the World of the Movieverse section has been up updated to the new engine so it works in MSIE7.

The Archive now has a 'printer friendly' button on each story to make the stories easy to print. We also gave an FAQ on printing from a browser Printing the Stories

Currently I have instructions for MSIE 7, Firefox and Safari for Windows. If anyone is using another browser, please email me the page set-up instructions for that browser, especially the default settings and any little glitches it  might have.

I've just finished a complete retooling of the archive underpinnings - if you have anything bookmarked concerning the City of Metropolis, chances are the pages have moved.

We also have a sign-up for an Archive newsletter. Since the Archive is separate from the Forum (here) I have not automatically signed members here up for it. Go to Archive Home to sign up. I am hoping to send out a newsletter every Sunday concerning new items in the Archive from the previous week.  Smiley

Just added Compleat Guide to the Movieverse Characters No pictures yet, so if people want to volunteer to help out, that would be greatly appreciated.

The site is one year old! Whew...
The Newsletter was a bust so is no more.

Still looking for more authors to add their stuff to the Archive Collection. If you haven't visited Big Apricot Home recently, come in for a visit.  Shocked
